There is a very impressive selection of wineries on offer in Tasmania and so many of them are on our doorstep - near or a short distance from Launceston. Below are some of our personal favourites that we would highly recommend.

Delamere Vineyard

This is a fantastic vineyard in the Pipers Brook region on the way to Bridport (or back from...or both 🤗). My close friends would call this place my second home on a Sunday arvo! The guys who run and work at Delamere are so welcoming and friendly and there is a very generous assortment of delicious tastings on offer. They are dog friendly (even happy for your dog to be off lead so long as it’s not too busy and your pooch is very well behaved and doesn’t try to chase the roaming chickens or quails!!) and we also found them to be wheelchair friendly. Please note - we only went round the back to the outdoor deck area with the wheelchair so can't comment on the cellar door access. They have a selection of cheese, biscuits and nibbles but you can also BYO picnic. This place is a must for anyone exploring Tassie!!

Josef Chromy

This is a beautiful winery in a very scenic spot. They have a cellar door and restaurant on offer with delicious tastings, cheese platters and amazing lunch options. Both their outside deck and restaurant are very wheelchair friendly, the service was great and the staff were so accommodating! There is a lovely walk around the lake - again wheelchair friendly. Josef Chromy is also home to one of Tasmania's best festivals; Effervescence, which celebrates the New World's best sparkling wine.

Devil's Corner Cellar Door

Devil's Corner is in one of Tassie's best scenic spots with a truly unbeatable view. Located on the east coast, this winery is definitely worth the drive from Launceston. Both very wheelchair and dog friendly, they offer a fabulous selection of wines and many delightful food choices, from oysters to pizzas. Make sure you use the lower car park for a wheelchair. Devils Corner is also an outdoor venue so if heading here in winter like we did...dress warmly!!

Winter Brook Vineyard

This is a wonderful, boutique winery in Loira on the West Tamar run by such a lovely couple. Perfectly located for a visit on your way home from exploring the Tamar valley or after a wander at the beach. They have a delicious tasting selection (wine and cider) on offer and are incredibly welcoming. You can also BYO picnic. We sat in their fenced vineyard at one of their picnic tables and as we were the only ones there, they kindly closed the gate so Mr Hughie could run around and play with a leaf 🐶! Again we didn’t take mum into the cellar door so cannot comment on that aspect. We will definitely be going back once the warmer weather arrives!

Clover Hill Wines

Located in Lebrina, this vineyard has one of the most spectacular views and the cellar door is housed in a beautiful, architecturally designed building. Perfectly situated for a lazy arvo and sipping a vino...or two!! They are very wheelchair friendly and have delicious wine, sparkling and cheese platters on offer..including one of my all time favourite, sparkling rosé. Clover hill is an absolute must for anyone visiting Tassie!
