Grindelward

Just a 15 minute drive from Launceston, is a small Swiss style village called Grindelwald and the Tamer Valley Resort.

We headed there for a bit of a wander one afternoon. The resort itself is a pretty easy and short stroll to explore. There's a good view from the lookout...however the path up to it is incredibly steep and it was quite a challenge to get the wheelchair up there.

A little further on from the resort (off Alpine Crescent) is a lovely lake in a quiet scenic setting. You can walk here from the resort or drive and park at the lake itself. There is an easy, short walk on a sealed path all around the lake, which we found very wheelchair friendly.

Dogs allowed on lead.

After exploring Grindelwald...we would recommend heading back to Launceston via Rosevears (approx. 10 minute drive). The Rosevears Hotel is a great little pub right on the river and worth the detour for a cold beer or a glass of vino. The outdoor deck is wheelchair and dog friendly. Please note we haven't gone into the hotel with the wheelchair so are unable to comment.
